Annealing Basics
Should you anneal brass every time?
Annealing should be done after every firing. This eliminates springback and gives you smooth, repeatable sizing.
How long does brass last without annealing?
The primary reason for annealing rifle brass is preventing case necks from cracking and keeping them in the same hardness range. They will eventually split because firing and resizing "work hardens" brass, making the thin necks brittle. Most rifle cases will survive 4-5 firings, and some will last longer, depending on the brand and method of resizing.
How does annealing affect brass?
Annealing is a process that helps restore the ductility of the brass. That makes it easier to size and less likely to crack or split, so annealed brass cases can be used many more times before they need replacing.
Can you over anneal brass?
Yes, and it should be avoided, because it can lead to dangerous situations since the brass can get too soft. A common method to verify you have not over-annealed is a heat-sensitive paint such as Tempilaq.
Can you anneal twice?
Annealing a case more than once, as long as it isn't still hot from the first pass, doesn't do anything negative.

Which AGS version fits my cartridges?
V3.0 fits .223 and similar, .308, 30-06 and similar, .532 magnums, .338 Lapua Magnum, and 45-70. V3.1 fits everything V3.0 does, plus .408 CheyTac. V3.2 fits everything V3.1 does, plus .50 BMG. The V3.3 PRO fits .223 family, .308 family, .559" Mag/Ultra Mag base, .338 family, .408 CheyTac, and .50 BMG.

What is the difference between V3.0, V3.1 and V3.2?
All three use the same annealer body, digital PWM controller, and build quality. The only difference is which cartridge insert sets are included: V3.0 covers .223 through .338 Lapua Magnum and 45-70, V3.1 adds .408 CheyTac, and V3.2 adds .50 BMG.
What is different about the V3.3 PRO?
The V3.3 PRO takes the AGS V3 platform a step further with built-in support for commercial case feeders. It is designed for shooters who want to process larger batches with less hands-on feeding. The annealer itself supports cases up to .50 BMG, while case-feeder compatibility extends up to .300 Win Mag, depending on the feeder model.
To make reliable case-feeder operation possible, the V3.3 PRO required a different mechanical design and several changes to the original V3 platform. Because of those changes, it is not compatible with earlier V3 versions.
Who is the V3.3 PRO for?
Reloaders who want to integrate an AGS annealer with a commercial case feeder or who regularly process larger batches of brass.
What cartridges does the V3.3 PRO support?
The V3.3 PRO includes five insert sets: .402" for the .223 family, .492" for the .308 family, .559" for Mag / Ultra Mag base cases, .622" for the .338 family, and .661" for .408 CheyTac. Larger cases such as .416 Barrett and .50 BMG can be used without an insert.
Does the V3.3 PRO come with a case feeder?
No. The commercial case feeder is sold separately. The V3.3 PRO includes three case-feeder attachments for compatible feeder integration.
What type of case feeder works with the V3.3 PRO?
The V3.3 PRO is designed for use with compatible commercial case feeders, with case-feeder support up to .300 Win Mag depending on the feeder model. For a specific brand or model, email office@agsannealer.com to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
How many insert sets come with the V3.3 PRO?
Five annealing insert sets are included: .402", .492", .559", .622", and .661". The V3.3 PRO also includes three separate case-feeder attachments: .402, .492, and .543.
What comes with the V3.3 PRO?
The V3.3 PRO includes the AGS Annealer 3.3 PRO unit, five annealing insert sets (.402", .492", .559", .622", .661"), three case-feeder attachments (.402, .492, .543), two adjustable 1/2" torch holders, a 12V DC 2A wall charger with US/EU/UK interchangeable plugs, a Sharpie holder, and a tip-over ramp. The commercial case feeder itself is not included.
Do I need a second torch holder?
It's up to you. Current AGS V3 annealers include two torch holders, so you can use either a single- or dual-torch setup.
Single Torch Holder or Dual Torch Holder, which should I use?
Both setups work well. Single torch is a proven choice for everyday annealing. Dual torch lets you process larger batches faster. The right choice simply depends on how much brass you usually anneal.
Using It
How long does each case take?
Cycle time depends on the brass, cartridge and torch configuration being used. All current AGS V3 models use the same digital controller, adjustable from 2.5 to 10 seconds. Establish the correct setup for the brass and torch you are running before processing the batch.
Do I need Tempilaq?
Not required, but it's a common method for confirming you've reached the correct annealing temperature before running a full batch. Tempilaq is a heat-sensitive paint that changes color at a set temperature, which takes the guesswork out of your first setup on a new cartridge.
What torch does it use?
AGS uses standard 1/2" diameter propane torch heads (not included). The most commonly used model is the Bernzomatic UL2317. For the V3.3 PRO specifically, use only pencil-flame type torch heads.
Will it over-anneal my brass?
It can, if the timer is set too long for your setup. That's why we recommend verifying your timing on first setup, for example with Tempilaq or a similar heat indicator. Once you've confirmed the right dwell time for your brass and torch, the digital timer keeps it repeatable.
Do I need to supervise the annealer while it is running?
Yes. AGS annealers use an open flame and should always be operated under supervision. Never leave the annealer running unattended.
How does the case rotate during annealing?
A separate all-metal gear motor rotates the case at the heating station for even heat distribution during the process.
What is the timer range?
All current AGS V3 models use the same controller, adjustable from 2.5 to 10 seconds.
Can I anneal brass and mark the brass at the same time?
It's possible to set it up that way, but we recommend doing it as a separate process.
Can I adjust settings in the Menu?

Shipping & Orders
When will my order ship out?
Orders usually ship the next business day. Orders placed over the weekend or on a holiday are processed on the next available business day. Once an order has been processed for shipping it cannot be canceled; a cancellation request after that point is handled according to the AGS Return Policy. All delivery times are estimates. Do you ship internationally?
Yes, AGS ships to most countries via DHL Express or FedEx. Orders usually ship the next business day. International delivery time varies by destination and carrier and is an estimate. International orders cannot be shipped to a PO Box. Brokerage fees, taxes, and duties may apply and are the buyer's responsibility.
Backorders
Backorders ship once every item in the order is ready to ship. If you need in-stock items sooner, place a separate order for those and a second order for the backordered item.
Returns & Warranty
What is your return policy?
AGS accepts returns within 60 days of delivery, subject to the conditions in the Return Policy & Warranties. An RMA number is required before returning an item, and the RMA must be requested within 7 days of delivery. Refund amounts are subject to item condition, shipping costs, payment processing fees, and the other terms stated in the full policy. What does the Lifetime Hardware Warranty cover?
The lifetime warranty covers mechanical components against defects in materials or workmanship. Normal wear and tear, misuse, abuse, physical damage, and tampering are not covered.
How long are electronics covered?
Electronic components are covered for 1 year from the purchase date. This includes the power supply, LCD/speed controller, motors, wiring, plug, and related electronic components.
How do I start a warranty claim?
Email office@agsannealer.com. An RMA number is required before returning any warranty item.
Who pays shipping for warranty work?
The customer is responsible for all shipping costs associated with warranty work, including shipping the unit or part to AGS Custom LLC for inspection or repair and shipping the repaired unit or replacement part back to the customer.
